Nihongo is a comprehensive Japanese language learning tool that encompasses an offline dictionary, flashcard app, and reading assistant. This app is specifically designed to optimize your study time and aid in the efficient acquisition of Japanese language skills.

One standout feature of Nihongo is its user-friendly dictionary, which allows for quick and accurate word searches. The search results prioritize words commonly used by native Japanese speakers, providing a more practical linguistic experience. Additionally, every word in the dictionary is categorized as "common," "uncommon," or "rare," further enhancing its usefulness for language learners.

The app's reading assistant, called "Clippings," sets Nihongo apart from other dictionaries. By simply pasting Japanese text from various sources such as websites, emails, or eBooks, users can instantly access furigana or romaji for every word. Furthermore, tapping on any word provides its definition, revolutionizing the way one reads Japanese text. This convenient feature is also available as a Safari extension, allowing seamless integration with web browsing.

Research in second-language acquisition has shown that encountering words naturally improves memorization. Nihongo leverages this insight by automatically compiling flashcard decks based on users' search history and clippings. These flashcards create context for vocabulary words encountered in various contexts, such as Japanese class or popular media like songs or videogames. Users can enhance their understanding by adding personal contextual notes to the back of each flashcard.

Kanji flashcards encourage active recall by prompting users to draw missing characters from the words they are studying.
